Welcome

The Tambopata Reserve Society (TReeS) was established in 1986 by a group of biologists from Peru and Great Britain concerned about the future of the rainforests of south-east Peru. Research has shown the Tambopata area to be, arguably, the most biodiverse area of rainforest on the planet. It has world record species lists for birds and butterflies, amongst others.
TReeS was founded to promote and support

  • biodiversity conservation
  • community-led projects relating to the sustainable use of resources
  • sound environmental management
  • environmental education
